Pollution Prevention and Waste Minimisation

of Small Scale Industries in Kolkata Metropolis Area

Stricter Emission Standards have been introduced by the West Bengal Pollution Control Board by order no. 907-4Z-1/2001 dated 11.05.2001. These standards are applicable for the following types of units operating within Kolkata Metropolitan Area.

Heating sources
Emission standard for Particulate Matters
(max.)

Boiler
(irrespective of steam generation capacity)
150 mg/Nm³

Ceramic kilns
(irrespective of kiln capacity and type)
150 mg/Nm³

Cast iron foundries
(irrespective of metal melting capacity)
150 mg/Nm³

Rolling mills
(irrespective of capacity)
150 mg/Nm³

Small boilers (steam generation capacity < 2 Ton per hour) operating within Kolkata Metropolitan Area should use only cleaner fuels like oil or gas.

All ceramic kilns (irrespective of kiln capacity and type) operating within Kolkata Metropolitan Area should use only cleaner fuels like oil or gas.

All Rolling mills (irrespective of capacity) operating within Kolkata Metropolitan Area should use only cleaner fuels like oil or gas.
