As per the Rule 18 of the Manufacture, Storage & Import of the Hazardous Chemicals Rules, 1989 and as amendments thereafter, all the units importing the hazardous chemicals into the State of West Bengal are required to obtain prior permission from the West Bengal Pollution Control Board.

The application for import clearence is to be submitted to the Waste Management Cell of the Board. The application format can be downloaded by clicking here. Clearance has to be obtained on consignment basis. Processing fee per consignment is Rs. 2000/-. This fee is to be deposited at any one of the designated branches of the United Bank of India through bank challan passed by the officer of the Waste Management Cell of the Board.

Each application is to be supported by the following documents:

1. Copy of the Invoice

2. Copy of the Bill of Lading

3. Copy of Material Safety Data Sheet

4. Copy of the "Consent to Operate" of the end-user

5. 3rd copy of the bank challan
