The Government of India published Hazardous Waste (Management and Handling) Rules in the year 1989 and amended it in January 2000. According to the amended version of the said Rule, any Industrial activity defined by the following criteria shall have to obtain authorisation from the Board.

1. Industrial activities involving process(es) generating Hazardous Waste as per schedule 1 of the said amended Rule
2. Activities generating waste substances with concentration limits as per schedule 2 of the said amended Rule
3. Activities importing and/or exporting wastes as per schedule 3 of the said amended Rule

Prescribed form for application for authorisation for collection / reception / treatment / transport / storage / disposal of hazardous waste is available at the Hazardous Waste Management cell of the Board at its Head Office or may be downloaded clicking here

Hazardous Waste Inventory of last cycle (as on 01/04/07)

Units whose names appear in the inventory of Hazardous Waste for West Bengal(as on 01/04/07) are hereby informed that the said inventory has been prepared based on the information furnished by them. The units are however requested to submit their views, comments, suggestions, objections, if any within 30 days to the West Bengal Pollution Control Board at the following address :
