In order to create awareness for nature and promote an understanding of the concepts of biodiversity, a programme was organised with 85 physically and mentally challenged students of the Indian Institute of Cerebral Palsy (IICP), Taratolla Road, Kolkata. This awareness-raising programme was the second of its kind, the earlier one being held for the visually handicapped children. The Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Environment and Information Technology, Shri Manabendra Mukherjee and Shri Hirak Ghosh, Principal Secretary, Deptt. of Environment & Chairman, West Bengal Pollution Control Board were present in the occasion. This programme, which was also jointly organised by Birla Industrial Technological Museum (BITM) on July 25, 2003, at IICP campus, included the following contests:

• Sensing the smell of nature for students;
• Identification of the source of sound;
• Tactile game titled "Touch and Find";
• Clay Modeling and
• General Quiz.
